Update 10/28/15

Wednesday, October 28th, 2015

Lake level is 602.25 and steady. we received about 1.6″ of rain yesterday but it doesn’t seem to be having a lot of affect on the lake level. Water temp according to the corp site is about 55 degree’s. It is starting to get to the area of fall turnover. Likely some area’s have already started.

CRAPPIE: We have heard of some finally starting to bite very shallow. This will only improve over the next couple of weeks as the water cools down further. The shad seem to already be up in the creek arms so the crappie will soon follow. You can also find them in deeper water hugging the bottom.

BASS: No reports lately.

CATFISH: There have been some blues being caught along with some channel cats. If you can find some incoming water from the rain you will likely have good luck on them.

NOTES: This weekend is youth hunt weekend. As always, we will be having our anniversary party on Saturday night. Call Mary for details. Stop in and say hi, enjoy a bowl of chili, pull a chair up to the fire, or grab a seat in the bar. We appreciate your support. Hard to believe this is 8 years already.

Update 10/14/15

Wednesday, October 14th, 2015

Lake level is 602.7. Water is fairly clear for now. That could change in the next week or so if it cools down and starts to turn over. Water temp is at about 65 degree’s.

CRAPPIE: Fishing is still pretty tough but on any given day someone is catching decent fish. Most of what we hear is still main lake fishing. Points, brushpiles, tree’s. Minnows and nibbles are a good way to start, although I wouldn’t rule out trolling some Bandit’s, especially on those points, bluffs, and piers.

BASS: We have heard of some good white bass catches around the islands and on rocky points. Have not heard much on largemouth lately.

CATFISH: There are some blues being caught and last week some decent flatheads.

NOTES: This weekend is the Indian Creek Halloween walk. If you haven’t been to it you are certainly missing out on a good time for the kids.

On Oct 31 we will be celebrating out 8th anniversary Customer Appreciation party. Also, on that same weekend is Youth hunt weekend. As always, we will be doing 1/2 price rooms for youth hunters. Call the resort for details.

UPDATE 10/1/15

Thursday, October 1st, 2015

Lake level is 603.6. This is a great time to go out and locate structure that you would normally not see. Mark the location on a map or with your GPS. You can find laydowns and brushpiles that will have plenty of water over them next spring.

CRAPPIE: You have to work hard for them, but some nice fish can be caught. Deep timber and brushpiles should hold fish. The water is starting to cool down and over the next week will cool down a lot. The fishing will improve as it cools and the crappie will move up into the creek arms where they are bound to find loads of shad. The fishing can easily be as good as spring fishing when this happens. Anything with chartreuse on it and tipped with a nibble and/or a minnow will help to entice some bites right now.

BASS: We still here of some good bass being caught. Not great numbers, but some dandy fish. White bass are starting to hit pretty good as well. Roostertails, Mepps spinners, Little Cleos, etc.

CATFISH: There have been some flatheads getting caught recently along with some nice blues.

NOTES: The Indian Creek Halloween Walk is scheduled for Oct 16 and 17. This is an excellent event to bring the kids to.

MORE NOTES: Our annual anniversary party, chili cook-off is scheduled for Oct 31. Call Mary for more details. We will be having a good time as always.
