UPDATE 3/31/16

Thursday, March 31st, 2016

Lake level is at 604.75. We had 4/10″ of rain but it didn’t do much to the lake. There were a few arms with some inflow so I would say Southfork and Middlefork may have been muddied up a bit. Water temp was about 48 before the rain.

CRAPPIE: Not many fish caught this week due to a lot of wind for most of the week.

CATFISH: I saw an excellent catch over the weekend of nice blues. Shad seems to be the bait to use right now.

BASS: No reports

NOTES: We are going to have to cancel the tree drop for Saturday. The wind is supposed to be pretty extreme and it just isn’t worth risking anyone to drop some trees. We will reschedule it for a later date. Any questions please give us a call.

UPDATE 3/25/16

Friday, March 25th, 2016

Lake level is at 604.6. Water temp in the coves is low 50’s. I assume the main lake is colder. Water clarity is good.

CRAPPIE: Last week while it was warm out there were some good catches made in shallow water but of course that bite stopped with the cooler weather that came in. Normally that just pushes the crappie out to the next drop to deeper water. Patience is key then as they aren’t very active and you almost have to have a bait hanging in front of their face to get them to react. I would believe that when we get the next warm few days the same thing will happen.

BASS: No reports

CATFISH: There has been a pretty good bite for blue’s so far this spring. We have seen a few flatheads but not nearly as many as blues. Floating jugs as well as tied jugs have been working pretty well.

NOTES: Sorry for the delay on getting this report going again. Mary and I were gone for a while on a warm weather vacation. Spring is definitely here, the turkeys are gobbling, the grass is greening up, time to get things moving again. We will be doing the tree drop on April 2 and can always use help to get them out. Let us know if you want to help. We usually get started about 9:00 am.
