Update 3/6/2010
As of this morning we were still frozen up at all of the landings with the exception of Elk Creek. I am not sure how much open water is available, but I heard there was a boat in there. There is a lot of open water at the north end of the lake, so shore fishing would be possible in some areas. An update from Lynn Tharp this morning, the water up there is brown in color with visibility of less than 1 foot and it is 38 degrees.— With this warmer weather we are experiencing there is a lot of wildlife active so be careful on the roads. —- I heard rumor of a couple of local fishermen making some trips over to Thomas Hill this past week and being pretty successful on crappie.

ron do you have room for two more for the tree drop. i can bring me , my buddy jeff, and my boat on the 20th thanks normy

I am sure we do normy. The only caution I want to make is this….these could be Christmas trees and you all know how they drop needles everywhere, so if you don’t want them in your boat it might be better to not bring a boat. If you have a jon boat where it is no issue to clean that’s great. Not trying to dissuade anyone, but I would hate for someone to haul a boat all the way here and then find out about the mess. At the rate it’s going we’ll be laying the darn trees on the ice…..just kidding, it should be gone by this weekend I think.

Ron, I was wondering if you are going to mark way-points when you drop the trees?
March 13th, 2010 at 8:26 am
Last year we met at 10:00. That gives the air some time to warm up before we get out there. Thanks for the drawing update. No Chris, we don’t mark waypoints. We mark the drops on a map, which goes to the Corp office so they can mark them on the lake master map. I believe that map is available to anyone who will stop in up there and ask to see it. The guys helping obviously have a bit of a leg up as they are here. I will call on Monday and verify which of the 2 weekends we are going to do it.
